Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh sits in a prominent spot overlooking Scotland’s capital city from a convenient vantage point. The elegant hotel is designed to blend into the surrounding medieval architecture with its own 16th century façade.
Newhey were challenged to design and manufacture three bespoke carpets that would flow gracefully through the corridors, guestrooms, suites and also the meeting and breakout areas of the hotel.
Newhey have been involved in the Radisson brand for a number of years and have worked on many projects with this specific hotel operator.
Working closely with Herefordshire based interior designers Trevillion Interiors, Newhey were asked to create a simple texture in smokey green and grey shades for the guestrooms and suites. Splashes of yellow were introduced in the cushions to compliment the neutral scheme.
The main meeting areas required a more intricate design in neutral colours, depicting a street map of the city which looks stunning against the wall mural of Edinburgh Castle and the Scottish Pipe Band.
Breakout areas again feature a neutral but stylish geometric design with turquoise soft seating and hints of yellow on the tables, walls and floor lamps.
All three designs were created using Newhey’s innovative Colortec+ technology. Colortec is one of the most advanced forms of high speed patterned tufting technology on the market. Computer yarn placement technology provides the ability to specify complex designs, not usually associated with tufted carpets, using high quality 80% Wool 20% Nylon hank dyed pile yarns.
